Additional Garden Methods

Not every gardening method fits into the main methods we’ve already covered. Some are designed for water conservation, some for controlled environments, and some for very small or unusual spaces.
The methods below were not covered elsewhere in this section and are listed here with a short definition and a direct source for more information.
Additional Gardening Methods List
Xeriscape Gardening — A water-wise method built around drought-tolerant plants, efficient irrigation, mulch, and soil improvement to reduce water use.
Rain Garden Gardening — A planted depression designed to catch and absorb runoff from roofs, driveways, and other hard surfaces, helping water soak into the ground instead of running off.
Rooftop Gardening — Growing plants on rooftops in containers, beds, or specially designed systems where ground space is limited.
High Tunnel Gardening — Growing crops inside an unheated protected structure, often called a hoop house, to extend the season and improve environmental control without a full greenhouse.
Windowsill Gardening — A very small-scale indoor gardening method that uses sunny windows for herbs, seedlings, or compact edible plants.
Indoor Herb Gardening — A container-based indoor gardening method focused on growing herbs inside the home with natural or supplemental light.
Microgreen Gardening — Growing edible seedlings to harvest at a very young stage, usually just after the first true leaves begin forming.
