Apply enough water so it soaks down into the root zone, not just the surface.
For most garden plants:
👉 about 6–12 inches deep
For trees:
👉 about 12–24 inches deep
Water slowly and long enough for moisture to reach the full root zone (not just the top layer of soil).
Light watering = wets the top inch
Deep watering = soaks down → roots grow deeper → stronger plant
Water slowly – Water less often – Let soil dry slightly between watering
